Aluminium ??Galassia?? Vase by Lorviamo 80??s

Italy, 1980s. This ??Galassia?? vase by Lorviamo plays cast aluminium on two registers: mirror-polished faces, and a wide dark, textured band that winds in a spiral around the body. The slender form twists slightly along its height and narrows to a neck with irregular edges, where the raw grain of the cast metal can still be seen.

The contrast between the shiny polish, which catches the reflections of the room, and the matte black with its hammered look gives the object a sculptural presence, halfway between a vase and a small column. Good overall condition, on visual inspection: a few fine scratches and small signs of use on the polished faces, no visible knocks or deformation.

At 26.5 cm high and 7.5 x 8.5 cm, it holds a branch or a few stems, or stands alone on a console, a sideboard or a coffee table.
